Trendiest spot in the world
According to Business Insider the NDSM-wharf is the trendiest spot in the world. Let us take you on a bike tour through this remarkable area.
What you can expect
- Visit one of the most exciting neighborhoods in the world by bike
- See the beautiful countyside north of Amsterdam
- Enjoy a three course diner
It is all possible on the NDSM Media Wharf: dreaming, pioneering, building, cultivating, renting and buying, old and new. The wharf, with its decor of old cranes, ship building halls, slipways is a unique piece of Amsterdam. This is last piece of robust history of the city on which talented artists, cultural entrepreneurs, special retail and visionary architects now can leave their marks.
This is a hotspot with big contrasts: from the smalles film production firms to the largest festival, from old cultural history to modern buildings, from classic to avant-garde, from bread with cheese to high- end culinary menu’s, from old rowing boats to the newest yachts. The NDSM wharf is the largest breeding area of the Netherlands where the digital world has found its routes, where you can enjoy great food, drinks with a stunning view over the river IJ.
Amsterdam shipyards
The area has undergone a big transformation. This placed it on the third place in the list of trendiest places. All of this in a scenery of historical shipyards. On this event we will take you on a Dutch bike tour and explore the area. Our guides will highlight the most beautiful spots.
After this area we will explore the northern part of the city. We will pass the trendy bar de Ceuvel and bike over the Schellingwouderdijk. We will tell the stories about or most famous painter Rembrandt van Rijn and visit a town were he made sketches. We will pas the old hanging fields where in the old days Amsterdam criminals were condemned to be hung.
We will follow our route to the picturesque village of Durgerdam where we tell the stories about the history of the dike, the defence island Pampus and the fortification of the city of Amsterdam. This is also where we’ll taste a Dutch sailors schnapps.
We will go on to the village of Ransdorp where we will climb the flat church tower and have a 360 degree view over the beautiful landscape over the area named Waterland.
Organic local food
After this we will leave our bikes, have a short five minute walk through the famous Dutch countryside and arrive in a Old Dutch hay farm for a organic three course dinner (for example: whole lam or pig on the grill, wild salmon grilled on wood, we will take notice on all diet requests). After dinner campfires are made where the team can enjoy the beautiful landscape, sunset and have a drink.
In case of bad weather we will arrange an inside alternative with activities for the team (make a portret of clay of one college under guidance of a Dutch art teacher/ a game tournament inside the farm called farmers six camp).
