Holland and tulips go hand in hand. We Dutch have been in love with this flower from the time it was introduced to our country in the sixteenth century. Things went pretty crazy back then. At the top of the ‘Tulip Craze’ of the seventeenth century, rich merchands in Amsterdam would pay a fortune for a rare bulb. Ever since, the tulip has been in our hearts. Especially in springtime, when the bulbs open and many parks and fields are full of flowers.

Tulip time runs from the beginning of April through the first weeks of May. The best known places to see them are the areas around the town of Lisse and especially the Keukenhof. But these places can get very crowded. At Experiencewaterland we love off the beaten path locations where we can give our small groups an amazing experience. So that’s why we looked long and hard this winter for an intimate location where our guests can enjoy the best of our tulip season. 

Tulips in Holland

We are happy to announce that we’ve found an exclusive location, an hour’s drive north of Amsterdam. We are proud to present our new partner in the top of the province of North Holland. These fields are located next to the seaside and are part of the largest tulip fields in the world.

During this tour we’ll learn everything about the national flower of Holland. But most of all this is a hands-on experience. Everything’s allowed during this tour. We’ll smell, touch and even pick tulips while walking through the fields and seeing tulips in every color. This area is also known for its wide open spaces and sunshine. No better way to enjoy the start of springtime!

After enjoying this flower power we will -time permitting- drive to the seaside. Holland has hundreds of kilometers of beautiful shoreline and many say this part has the best beaches. You will see the North Sea stretch out in front of you. Afterwards we’ll drive back to Amsterdam.
